Become a volunteer!
The enthusiastic volunteers who comprise the Friends represent a broad range of ages and backgrounds. What we share is a passion for reading and for working together in support of Newtown’s wonderful C.H. Booth Library.
We perform diverse tasks and set our own schedules. Some of us work year-round processing donations for our sales and The Little Book Store. Others, including many high school and college students, join our ranks in July to help with our big annual book sale.
Whatever your skill-set, we could use you! Please consider dedicating your time and talent to one of Newtown’s premier non-profit groups by emailing us at boothbooksale@yahoo.com or by leaving a message with contact information at (203) 270-4537. Our volunteer liaison will be in touch.

Friends of the CH Booth Library Donation Guidelines
The Friends of the C.H. Booth Library welcomes your donations of new and gently-used books, CDs, DVDs, LPs, jigsaw puzzles, and games. We’re also interested in unusual vintage and collectible items.
The newest and nicest items we receive will be available for purchase in the Friends’ year-round Little Book Store on the second floor of the library. Other items will be earmarked for the Friends’ 46th Annual Book Sale, tentatively scheduled for July 8-12, 2022, at Newtown’s Reed Intermediate School.
You can bring your donations to the library year-round anytime the library is open and place them inside the Friends’ Donation Room opposite the elevator on the first floor of the library. Note that we will not be able to accept any donations in the weeks before and immediately after the summer book sale.
The Friends cannot accept the following items:
- Encyclopedias and Time-Life Series
- Outdated reference and text books, and travel guides
- Magazines and free pamphlets
Proceeds from the sale of the items you donate help the Friends support the purchase of library materials, online services, programs, and special projects. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
